SkillGym has been selected for the Kickstart Program 2020

New recognition for the Digital Role Play platform SkillGym that will be part of the Kickstart program 2020, one of the largest European innovation programs, that brings together later-stage startups with corporations, foundations, universities and cities in order to foster deep-tech innovation in different areas.

Chiasso (TI, Switzerland) – The program Kickstart 2020, the initiative launched five years ago by digitalswitzerland as a spin-off of the Impact Hub Zürich, has received high-quality applications from over 55 countries and only a few of them has been selected to join the program that entails the possibility to directly collaborate with primary organizations. SkillGym is among the innovative solutions selected for the EdTech&NewWork vertical.

From September 2020, SkillGym will have the opportunity to co-create in the form of Proof-of-Concepts, pilots and commercial projects with the Kickstart partners, leading organizations and companies such as AXA, Coop, Migros, Swisscom, Mobiliar, ETH Zürich, City of Zurich, PostFinance, Credit Suisse, Mövenpick, New Work SE, Energie 360 °, Roche, Holcim Switzerland, Nespresso , Canton de Vaud and others.

In the last years, the Kickstart program has initiated 120+ pilots and commercial projects between startups, established organizations and companies from various sectors. For the Ticino-based Lifelike SA, the company that realizes the Digital Role Play platform SkillGym, this is a great opportunity to further connect with primary Swiss organisations supporting them with its know-how and innovative approach to People’s soft skills Development via Digital Role Play.

SkillGym wins the call “Digital HR: Innovating to grow” launched by Eni

Starting from the next few weeks, Lifelike SA, the innovative company based in Canton Ticino (Switzerland) that realizes SkillGym, the Digital Role Play platform, will be involved in an open innovation project to support Eni’s human resources.

Chiasso (TI Switzerland) – June 26, 2020 – Yesterday, after a few months of selections and an online event with 100+ people involved, Eni and Cariplo Factory announced the winning startups of the call “Digital HR: Innovating to grow”, an Open Innovation challenge organized to identify the most innovative tools for people management and continuous learning.

SkillGym, the Digital Role Play platform created by Lifelike, has been selected among the 70 international startups as the most innovative and effective solution for training and development.

Lifelike will now be involved in an open innovation project with Eni to define how to support at the best Eni’s people’s soft skills development with its innovative tool. SkillGym allows practicing and improving how to manage critical conversations on different topics: Leadership, Digital Transformation, Diversity&Inclusion and Sales.

After the recent awards in both Swiss and international contexts, Lifelike has obtained further confirmation of the effectiveness of its Digital Role Play solutions, which are positioning the innovative Swiss company on top of the market in the application of new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Augmented Reality in the Learning and Development landscape.

Chiasso, 26 giugno 2020 – Ieri, dopo alcuni mesi di selezioni ed un evento online con oltre 100 persone coinvolte, si è conclusa la Call per startup di Eni “Digital HR: Innovare per crescere”, un progetto di Open Innovation organizzato insieme a Cariplo Factory e dedicato a strumenti innovativi per la gestione e la formazione continua delle persone.
Tra le oltre 70 realtà internazionali che hanno partecipato all’iniziativa, SkillGym, la metodologia e piattaforma di Digital Role Play realizzata da Lifelike, è stata selezionata come la soluzione più innovativa ed efficace per la formazione e lo sviluppo delle persone di Eni.

    1. They don’t scale. This limits opportunities for trainees to practice over and over again. Like in sports, practice must be done over and over.

    2. They don’t measure objectively, since evaluation is based on human opinion.

    3. Trainees worry too much about mistakes. Role Plays make trainees feel as if they are in a fish bowl, which causes overthinking.

Welcome to the Swiss Re trial run/testing of the SkillGym Conversation Simulation.
Testing will be conducted over a period of two months from the launch. Thanks for being part of it! The target audience for this learning offering is new, first time line managers, typically bands D, E and F. However, we have invited colleagues in a variety of roles for testing purposes. Please put yourself in the shoes of a colleague who is new to leading a team.
What is SkillGym?
SkillGym simulates real conversations a line manager is likely to have with their direct reports using a digital role play platform. It places the learner at the center of the conversation, such as a performance feedback discussion, in which the other party adapts their answers based on their personality and the course of the conversation. In less than 20 minutes, natural behaviors emerge and line managers can learn how to manage this type of complexity before facing it in real life. The learning is dedicated to developing conversations skills through practice and self-reflection.
How to get started?

1. Register: Get registered to participate in the Conversation Simulation per the instructions in the email from the Continuous PM mailbox
2. Practice: Once you’re logged-in, start with any of the available critical conversation scenarios (such as giving feedback, delegation, checking priorities); allow yourself at least 30 minutes each time
3. Reflect: Keep the following key topics/themes in mind as you go through the simulation. We encourage you to take brief notes and reflections of your experience, which you can bring with you to the two testing check-in sessions.
  • User experience with the platform (ease of use, design, features, technical issues, etc.)
  • Personal impact you experienced regarding your confidence in navigating different conversation styles and self-awareness
  • Overall learning experience – practicing a dialogue exchange with digital characters, seeing progress, conversation content and scenarios, etc
  • Consider if you would recommend this conversation simulation to new line manager colleagues
4. Continue to practice: Over the course of the next two months, regularly schedule time to try out each scenario; revisiting ones where you desired a different outcome and want to continue improving
How do I ‘schedule’ a virtual conversation with one of the characters?
You have two options:
– You can simply set aside time on your own calendar and begin a virtual conversation with one of the characters within the platform at any time.
– You can wait for the platform to invite you to schedule a conversation. The invitation will take you to an online doodle-style calendar where you can select your preferred date/time slot for scheduling the session. The system will record your preference and send you a calendar invitation and reminders.
